hi the community I hope you guys are doing well

Mid November I requested to change embassy because the embassy of my country France was and still is pretty busy and backlogged!

The Switzerland Embassy in Bern accepted to take over our application and within couple days the application arrived electronically in Switzerland!

I paid the MRV and did  my medical received all the instructions!

But in order to get an interview date the embassy needs to get the paper file application that has not arrived yet

US Embassy in Paris said that they sent the paper file couple weeks ago to the Switzerland embassy.

i’m starting to be concerned that they have lost my application

Do you guys know what is the normal timeframe for the embassy switch? Does the application goes back to the United States and its sent to the new embassy?

Thanks 😊

Unfortunately I can’t help with this question but I’m very curious about the embassy switch because I didn’t know it was possible just because the “home” embassy is taking longer to process because visas. May I ask how did you go about getting this transfer approved? Thanks.

My fiancée has a dual citizenship USA/Swiss 😊

Otherwise the embassies can either accept or not !

So if your file was already at the Paris Embassy then i would keep contacting them. I have heard some horror stories of embassies taking 3-6 months to transfer a file to another embassy. The embassy sends it directly to the other embassy. it does not go back to the states. Now if your case is with NVC its a different story, just contact them. However, if your case was already at the embassy that means NVC decided not to hold the case and there was no backlog so they sent it. Which in my mind means interview dates were available in Paris?

Yes indeed it was already in Paris !

But i’ve been researching on VisaJourney timelines and processing time and couples reports from other applicant at the embassy in Paris reported 90 days to get an interview from the receive date at the Embassy !

As opposed to Bern in Switzerland 20 days ! So i gave it shot BUT don’t know if that was the best call…we shall see !

Paris told me that it could take several weeks…
Thanks for you quote !! 👍

According to the Visa journey records! I email Bern and they had 6 days waiting time.

As opposed to Paris with an average of 2 months, i shouldn’t write backlogged but just busier.

Regards
