Hi all,

I hope this is the right forum to post in. I entered on a K-1 and got married and have now filed an AOS + EAD based on this guide (extraordinarily helpful I must say) with a few extra bits of evidence around my partners finance such as W-2, etc that I've seen people say they get an RFE for.

My question is, what happens next?

I know processing times are long.

But I'm not sure when I'm likely to hear anything from them to confirm they've received my packet?

And is there a way I'll be able to track any progress made to my case?

On a related note:

I regularly see screenshots that show a timeline like I've linked at the bottom - I think this is people screenshotting their USCIS account, is there a way I'll be able to get my i-485 / i-765 added to my USCIS account to track the progress?

I know that on the forms there was space for a USCIS number "(if any)" but while I have an account, I couldn't find a number and searching online led me to believe that to find your number you had to submit a form online, but I submitted via mail as all the guides I've seen seem to be based around that, and that's how we did the initial i-129f petition.

You'll get a recipe notice with your case number. That number is what you need to track your case.

You'll also get a letter with your biometrics appointment. These are the two things that will happen soon and then nothing for many months.

I hope you also filed for AP in case you need to travel at some point during the wait.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

u will get receipt letter from them. normally 1-2 weeks by snail mail. or also depend on how u paid the fee if using check or credit card, u will also know when they "cashed" the payment. if u use fedex, usps etc, u will also get tracking number

Thank you. We used a check and sent via USPS.

If your case will start with IOE, it’s an electronic case so you’ll be able to add that in your USCIS account and have access to NOAs and RFEs (if any) etc before they come in the mail. In order to have an online account, you’ll need an access code and USCIS will mail that separately. I received mine after I received NOA1. I’ve heard some people didn’t receive it, in which case you’ll need to contact them and ask for the code or for it to be sent again.
