Folks, Applicant submitted N-400 in Sept 22 as a Green Card holder of over 5 years.  Now he's laid off as of Dec '22.      Is there any required notification that need to be made to USCIS prior to the interview.   I imagine not - however I haven't read all of USCIS/Immigration laws and policy manuals (yet).        Please advise.

Also, he's thinking to file for unemployment as there may or may not quick offer of next job.    Would unemployment claims impact case decision favor-ability?

Thoughts, experiences?   Be kind to illuminate.

Thanks!

He can advise at the interview but unemployment is insurance paid by companies not a public benefit.

No, just update IO at the interview of current employment status. Being employed is not required for naturalization.

Unemployment benefits are earned benefits paid for by my employers and employees and have no impact on public charge rules. So, no impact affidavit of support or citizenship.

There are no income requirements for citizenship or employment requirements. As long as you pay taxes, child support, and pay their bills in general they will be good to go citizenship.
