Is the non-USA partner a rarity where you live in the US?

As in me being a rarity because I'm brazilian, the answer is Yes. But I guess nobody notices, everybody thinks I'm german anyway, lots of germans here. Plus I work and do most of my stuff on base (grocery, gym, gas, etc), people here from all places, I'm just another foreigner like half the people here.

Canadians shouldn't count as being a foreigner, Canada is practically the same as the US.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Australians in the US are rare as hen's teeth... aside from the occasional actor/celebrity who pops up on tv I've only seen ONE in three years (that distinctive twang made me quite homesick, but I didn't get to say hi because he was exiting a store...)

Well, if you go by what people tell you, practically everybody in Wisconsin is "half-German".

Too bad nobody speaks the language and only very few I've met have actually been there...

I just tend to get the "OHHHHH he's in England..(weird look) SO, how'd you two meet?....then I explain we've been together about 3 years after meeting online......and it goes to another weird look and Ohhhhh I seeeee" <_<

I guess I misinterpreted the question.

I read it as "Are there many couplings where one half is not a USC?," rather than "Are there many people from your SO's country or are they like an alien?"

Well; I guess I'll go for both. New England (except for VT, NH, and ME) is crawling with Hispanic people, although the majority in Providence are Dominican, Colombian, and Guatemalan. There are some Mexicans, but not tons. There are many places where one can go and not speak any English...there's at least one place for every service in Spanish.

As far as people in marriages or relationships with foreign born spouses, oohhee...there are tons and I was surprised to find so many. Just through work connections, one woman's hubby is from Senegal, another woman was born in Russia, immigrated here, and married a man from Cape Verde, her immigration lawyer is married to a man from Cote de Ivoire (who is ironically stuck in AOS limbo hell). And I randomly discovered that my two financial advisors have foreign born spouses. One's wife is from Indonesia and another from Venezuela. Oh yeah, and several more from my other job, but I guess you get the idea.

Oh yeah, and the bartender from my favorite pub got himself a mail order bride from the Philippines!

So I guess we're all over the place! There are so many interracial couplings around here, that more and more children I see are cafe con leche colored, as I'm sure mine will be.

I'd say Yuibi is rarest. There are only a handful of asians in our city, I've yet to meet someone or hear of someone who is Japanese (and I've lived here my entire life). 80% of the asians here are Vietnamese, a few Koreans & Chinese.

here in norcal my husband is apart of a sizable thai community in fact he has many friends from home including his very best friend. our thai community is comparable (maybe a wee bit smaller) to l.a. in size but definitely more spread out since we don't have thai town. definitely has made immigrating a lot easier!

Canadians as close to being Americans as Mexicans are.

A line in the sand.
