Algerian Embassy-Military Service [merged threads]

Hello, My husband and I are at the NVC stage of processing. I am trying to find a list of documents that my husband will need to bring to his interview/uploaded to the portal? Are there any resources that I can be directed to which can make that clear. Also, my husband did not serve military time. Will this be problematic when approving his petition.

Hello yes, I went through this page a hundred times as well as went to the document finder website. What is listed is seems to be a copy and paste from the general website and does not clarify which documents are required. I am also seeking clarification the military time and if it will be problematic.

The documents needed are there. AOS/financial documents and Civil documents. Re-read and you'll see them under those sections.

I'm assuming your husband is the USC? Serving in military is not a requirement to petition/sponsor a spouse.

My husband is the Algerian spouse and I am the US citizen. I know military requirement is not required for me as I am a women (with duo US/Algerian nationality). But I am asking if it is a requirement for him as he is a male that is under 29. I am finding mixed responses.

Yes, he never served Algerian military service, and I'm wondering if that will be problematic. Algeria ask their males to serve a year of military time.

Military service is a not requirement to be petitioned by a US spouse to migrate to the US.

Hello, I wrote a previous post but wanted to dedicate a separate thread to just this question. Please if someone is familiar with the Algerian embassy can you respond to this question.

 

My husband is Algerian and he never served his military time and thus does not have a military card. He is under the age of 29. Will this be a problem when he goes to do his interview for his green card. Has anyone had experience with this and can shed light on the situation. What would you recommend we do.

Thank you for the response. the website mentions a military card as one of the documents showing proof of service which is why I am asking. I made a separate thread dedicated to the military response and I am hoping for someone who has experience with the Algerian embassy can shed light. I appreciate your quick and dedicated repsonses.

That is if he did serve in the military. If he didn't then no problem. It's not a requirement to migrate to the US.

Is is mandatory, or is he exempt?

 

if it is mandatory and there are penalties for not serving, that could potentially be a problem.

Please do a timeline.   Your post is confusing and you’ll get more help by making your situation clearer.

Sorry I thought my timeline was updated. But I can give a brief summary:

 

I am a USC with duo US/Algerian citizenship. I originally filed a K1 visa for my fiance in July of  2021.  We abandoned the K1 visa and got married in July 2022. Our new I-130 Petition was approved ~four months later and we were sent to NVC.  NVC contacted us and we uploaded  everything so far except for the civil documents. We are worried about the military requirement. 

 

In algeria, a military service is required for all males. However some males are randomly never called for service and they age out of the requirement. Other males are called for service, do not go and successfully dodge it until they age out. Some males are unlucky as they get called and its enforced that they attend the service (military personnel will be sent to their home and they are dragged to service). You age out of service when you reach 29. 

 

My husband (and I are both under 29 years old). I been trying to do research on the situation because its very unclear. What I gathered is that some people are asked about the military service and some are not. Someone told us today that they only ask about it if you are doing the fiance visa or lottery visa. I honestly just have mixed stories and want to hear directly from someone who went through the process.
