Explanations with evidence needed?

Hey all,

I'm nearly done with our application packet for ROC. I have a couple questions would appreciate any help you can provide as we try to finalize everything.

Should I attach sticky notes to documents that do not clearly convey joint ownership or activities?

We have joint bank accounts that do not show both names on one page. Rather, in small print on the second page of each statement, it says "Joint owner with [Spouse's Name]". Our life insurance policies do not clearly display the beneficiary on the first page, you have to dig through to the middle pages of the policy to see it. I'm considering adding sticky notes along the lines of "Please refer to page 3 of 7 for evidence of joint ownership." I wondered if the person who scans in the documents at the lockbox facility might just rip off the sticky notes and perhaps the person examining them later will not see them.

Will it look strange if we include only the returning or departing boarding passes for some trips? We did not save them all.

We have two vacations that we managed to save the full boarding passes for (returning and departing), but there are several other trips where we do not have all flight legs. Most likely they were just electronic boarding passes on our phones that we did not get printed versions for.

I figured it would help to just include as many as we have, as surely proof of taking any flight together is good evidence. Do I need to attach an explanation stating that we misplaced the boarding passes for a portion of a trip, or is better not to include that trip at all? For example, we went on a trip to Hawaii. I could only find the two boarding passes from when we returned, not when we departed.

Thank you!

I would think you would want to avoid any sticky notes, as everything needs to be run thru a scanner, and sticky notes and scanners don't play well with each other( other members may have a different perspective, I didn't use any). Not having some of the boarding passes would be fine, if you include a list or page of your trips together, you could note the trips that you didn't have boarding passes for. Not a huge deal on the boarding passes, I worked really hard to keep all of mine, and it was a job. Had to always print them, didn't use the phone ( The easy way/ electronic, or I did both on some trips). I managed to keep them all, but don't think it played a big role in the overall scheme of things.

For the bank statements - just highlight the line that says "Joint owner with [Spouse's Name]". That way it grabs their attention but doesn't mess up the packet.

For life insurance, you should be able to print out the beneficiary designation without printing out the whole policy. Check around in your online account (assuming you have one) and see if there is a section of the website where you just just view/print the beneficiary designation. Or just highlight it as I suggested with the bank statements, or request a letter from the life insurance company stating the beneficiary info, if the prior suggestions don't work/aren't viable.

I would suggest perhaps filling in the "gaps" for trips that lack certain boarding passes with other proof that the trip occurred. A photo of you together in front of a recognizable landmark, hotel/airbnb receipts, etc.

My husband and I haven't traveled overseas together yet, so our proof of trips together involve photos and hotel receipts usually. And the bank statements back it up as well, since there are clearly charges from the locations we traveled to that correspond with dates.
