07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Our winter storm experience was disappointing. It had rained the day before, so when the cold came and near hurricane force winds, we had sheets of ice forming on the doors and windows, but no snow at all. The wind and cold was brutal.. it's been a long time I can remember it being this cold. At some point it was 2 degrees and -25 windchill. The heat pump was useless, and everyone got electric blankets this Christmas to stay warm. I have no idea what we would have done if we had lost power... honestly shocked we did not.

The freeze would have to be so widespread and so bad that hades itself would need to freeze over for that to happen.

Maybe the great W himself?

 

I am truly intrigued about who is slated to beat Cruz in the primaries.  

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_Senate_election_in_Texas has a list of potentials, of whom I’ve only heard of Ken Paxton.  
 

If the polls show Cruz winning a the presidency then I expect a primary challenge so that runner up can position her or him self to be appointed Senator if Cruz does become president (which will take months  even if elected since he will have to beat a charge that he is not natural born).   And in that scenario the field of primary challengers widens considerably.  
 

But I don’t see anyone  beating Cruz in the Senate primary.
