Storm enveloped southeast Texas in mid-afternoon.

Wind gusts at tropical-storm force.  Thankfully, no precipitation.

Everyone was zooming around to finish errands beforehand.

Supposed to crater to 18 degrees F. overnight Thursday, wind-chill temperature either side of 0.

Going to hear about many busted pipes and see many distressed tropical plants/trees.

It's windy and rainy at the moment.  Expecting to get much colder tomorrow in New Jersey

It’s a bitter cold 58 degrees in Vegas as I type this.  The Mrs could barely finish her yard of frozen Margarita on Fremont Street tonight but she powered through it like a trooper.  
 

We will return to southern AZ tomorrow by heading due south to Yuma (forecast to be a frigid 73 degrees then due east to Tucson (an unbearable 68 degrees).  Along the way we will have to brave a near freezing Kingman, AZ (60 degrees).  
 

A bit indirect but don’t want to risk a blizzard through Flagstaff (a dangerous zero percent forecast of snow tomorrow, with high temperatures barely hitting 50 degrees). 
 

Pray for us.  This global warming is very upsetting.

This kind of weather accentuates a personal problem.

Stupid builder put the thermostat on the LOWER floor of this house.

Even with all vents closed, the upstairs is at least 10 degrees warmer than downstairs, probably more.

It's almost like climate-change every time anyone goes up or down.

 

However, shouldn't complain after losing power last February and experiencing 52 F. inside for 37 hours.

Texas grid supposed to hold up, this time.

Done that drive several times, a lot of nice views heading into the Colorado valley between Vegas and Yuma.  Are you taking US 95 all the way, or heading through Laughlin/Bullhead City?

 

As to the weather here, -12 C and dropping at the moment, a lot of wind, some snow, but most of it is blowing around.

Talked to VAL today. She has  weathered the storm well. Today is her Birthday.  She sure made it fun around here

THis week we've got 25 mph sustained winds with 40 mph gusts. -15 actual temp but feels like -50 something with the wind chill. Of course, anything after -10 feels the same...just plain cold! The wind is kicking up the loose snow reducing visibility and making some nice drifts. Interstate is closed, but only a moron or out-of-state-r who doesn't know how to drive would be out on the prairie right now.

Last week was an actual blizzard; 20 inches of white n' fluffy "good-will and peace to men" dropped on us from on high. This week is just a ground blizzard.

 

 

Just another day in good 'ole ND. Next week we'll be in the 20s (Above zero) so I'll be breaking out my shorts and flip flops for that heat wave!

Reminders of the bad old days of growing up in the Midwest -- multiple terms.

Of course, there was also the distinction of sweet corn vs. field corn.

 

If I never see one more snowflake* in my life, I won't care.

     *literal kind and human kind

Fortunately it had warmed up to 9F before I had to take the pup out, the wind is what kills you.
