I would be travelling to Minneapolis and be out of station for around 2 weeks from mid August.

My AOS package was recieved on the 20th at Chicago lockbox.

So expecting the Biometrics appointment 30 -45 days from the receive date of my package.

What happens if i end up missing the Bio appoinment?

Does it take a long time to schedule anathor?

Could calling the USCIS expedite the process in case i miss my appointment?

If anybody had a similar experience, request you to share.

Any suggestions?

Well, I can always cancel the trip but getting tempted not to....

If you miss the appointment they are likely to cancel your case...

Usually the biometric appointment is around 30 days from your NOA. And from the timeline I've seen the appointment letter arrives around within a week after the NOA.

So if you already know that you are unlikely to make it during a certain period of time you should write to the USCIS and ask them to schedule it past the time when you're out of the area. That would probably be the best thing to do.

the biometrics appointment letter will give directions where to write to reschedule your appointment once you receive it. do not simply just not show up for your appointment. you could be considered to have abandoned your case.

Well, for writing to them, i would atleast need my case number. My NOA has not come yet.

Worried that writing to them about the same could end up delaying my case indefinitely......

Dont know what to really decide...

Thanks for your suggestion...

Wondering if they really cancel the case in the event of missing the appointment! cuz there could be urgencies/emergencies as well for anybody missing the appnt.

I can't speak for the efficacy of calling the customer service number to move your biometrics quicker, but my ASC Appointment Notice reads:

Please appear at the below application support center at the date and time specified. If you fail to appear as scheduled, your application will be considered abandoned.

The operative word is will, not may. So, if you miss it, your petition will be abandoned according the the NOA. Then if that happens, you'd have to file a form to petition the USCIS to reopen your case... which I've read is a pain.

Usually, the ASC notice has a Request for Scheduling section where you can mail the NOA to the local ASC to reschedule, and you will be fine. BUT, since you seem to be leaving before you even get the NOA for the biom., this won't help you much.

If it helps you any, the average days between NOA1 for the 765 and the biometrics date is 30-days for my local office.

sorry, but what is the ASC is notice and when do you get it?

are you referring to the NOA 1 or biometrics appnt letter?

The ASC notice is a NOA that instructs you to appear at your local ASC (Application Support Center). From the time of your NOA1 (initial receipt of your 765) and your biometrics appointment is, expect a biometrics appointment 1-month later. So as an example, if your NOA1 was on 07/20/2007, your biometrics appointment would be close to 08/20/2007. The time you receive the actual ASC notice in the mail, differs.
