Processing times and moving after applying?

Hi everyone and happy holidays,

I applied for citizenship online yesterday based on the 5 year rule and I got assigned a case number starting with IOE. 1 hour after applying they sent me a notice about biometric reuse and the website is showing that it might take 10 months. Is the 10 month really accurate? If no, is it faster or slower? My field office is Nashville. Is it faster for people filling based on the 5 year rule? Did anyone go through Nashville office? Should I wait for the process to end before moving to another state for work?

Thank you!

It is hard to say about processing times, but it doesn’t really matter if it’s the 3 yr or 5 yr rule.  If you move to a new USCIS district it may cause some delays.

We are in Dallas.  The estimated time after filing her N-400 (5 year rule) online was 9 months per the web site.  In actuality, it took 4 months from filing to interview completed.  Interview was done 3 days ago on 12/14/22.

I am a solid proponent of filing the N-400 asap.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

You finally got it 🙌🙌

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

My FO is also Nashville and they seem to be processing faster than before. I filed N400 in late July and got my interview for mid January, which is just under 6 months. When I filed it was taking 9-10 months.

I have gotten this message "We have taken an action on your case" twice in the last 24 hours but don't say any changes when I login. Did anyone experience this?

Most of us got that message immediately after applying. Probably routed to NBC to start background checks or preprocessing the finger printing or something else.

We are dealing with blackbox and hence none of us actually say what they are doing, but can only guess..

Keep an eye on online account in 35 to 70 days for any interview letter generated.. good luck...

Depends on your case.. my wifes was simple and straight forward, she is naturalized in under 3 months.. but now that its holidays, they tend to work slow, just like all of us 🙂
