I have been having a problem today... when I try to read certain threads my computer freezes up.... It happens in these two threads...

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79315

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=79315

it seems to happen when my browser or whatever tries to upload certain sites from images etc.. that people have in their posts...

these are the only two threads where I have had this problem so far....

I know it probably isn't VJ but probably something to do with my computer...

My computer's OS is Windows Vista and I use Firefox...

does anybody now what the problem could be??

P.S. I am starting to dislike Windows Vista :P We just got a new computer with this OS last week.. but it has been more of a pain in the butt then an improvement... :P

Did your computer come with anything like Norton Internet Security or another firewall program? You could temporarily disable it and see if the problems goes away.

very good choice on goin back to zone , I dont know about viesta , but xp got a self build in registry repair scan , you could try that ( if you got it ) also clean cookies temporary internet files , and a spy scan , if you dont have registry repair you can allways download the cclean , or Eusing free registry clean , theyr both free to download , I would also run a virus scan ( I got AVG pro its one of the best virus scanns ) hope it works good luck

I would suggest temporarily disabling zone alarm and visiting the pages you have trouble with to see if the problem still occurs.

Otherwise it may be an issue with your network/connection to the internet. Its really hard to know for sure.

Rendering delays do generally occur in a browser, how long they depends how quickly it can get the data, but it shouldn't freeze your entire computer. But it may freeze just your browser for a moment.

Windows Vista has been a complete PITA for me. It doesn't like going wireless that is for sure. I spent 3 hours on the phone with 3 different Linksys technicians to get my wireless router up and running. Never had these types of problems with XP.

Also, Microsoft Outlook 2007 is pretty worthless too. It's constantly freezing up and having to restart. I prefer Windows Mail, but my internert service provider doesn't support it (msn). Isn't that funny? A mail program made by Microsoft can not support msn mail. Nice one.

I use Vista on my laptop, and I haven't had any of those problems. I have had trouble with getting wireless to work before, but its usually been with either cross brand hardware (D-link or Belkin), or in a situation where there was a lot of interference or over a long distance. I dont think your wireless problems have anything to do with Vista, unless your wireless card wasn't supported in Vista.

If MSN supports POP3, which it may not, it should work in any mail client. If it doesn't, then its rather non-standard and you would need to use outlook or outlook express to connect, outside of the webmail interface.

yeah, I like zone alarm... it isn't so in your face like other firewalls...

yeah, I have tried all the scans... I have used spybot, adaware.. and I have run an AVG scan... it found a bunch of stuff but I am still having problems... I am going to try disabling zone alarm next...

Windows Mail is basically the newer version of Outlook Express that comes with Vista. MSN is supported by Outlook Express, but not Windows Mail.

I'm not sure what it is with the wireless problem. Like I said, I spent 3 hours on the phone with Linkysys trying everying to get it to work properly but it wouldn't. My last option now is to get a tech to take a look at it.

maybe there is a setting I need to change somewhere...

What version of Vista are you using? How much memory does your computer have?
