So, here's the thing. I have a pending I-485 (and I-765 + I-131). I recently found out I have cancer and I was wondering if I can expedite?

I know I can always try, but I like to be sure, since I'm already 9 months in.

I assume they can't deny my application based on this unforseen illness?

I am truly sorry to hear about this diagnosis.  No, they cannot deny your adjustment.  Good luck.  Go for it!!

Why do you need to expedite?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

For health insurance coverage

Generally that should not be needed, I assume there is a specific circumstance.

As far as I know I can't have health insurance if I don't have a green card. Mine will end in a few months.

Generally not relevant. I would imagine most get added to their Spouses on marriage.

He has military VA, I can't get on that. But why don't you think this is a valid reason to expedite?

Others may know about VA I do not. You would have qualified to buy ACA with the NoA.

You do not need a reason to expedite, you need a good reason, usually, to be approved.

I added my husband to my employer-based health insurance long before he had his green card.  Why would having a green card be a requirement?   I have never encountered any type of health insurance enrollment form that asks for immigration status.

AOS is rarely expedited.  In 7 years of reading VJ, I’ve not seen that happen.

Most expedites would be for the AP/EAD.

So how do you currently have US health insurance?

Sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis.   Even without that, you would have needed health insurance.   What was your plan for that when you decided to adjust status?

Yea, I can't get on my husband's insurance.

I'm not sure, but since I'm not a permanent resident, I assume I can't apply...I'm not sure.

So what was the plan for your husband to provide insurance for you when you knew you’d be adjusting and would be unable to work for many months?  Health care is extremely expensive here in the US.
