Hello, I am an American and brought my husband to the us (arrived May 2021) and he has a green card. He started working at a company doing sales and in order to get in to certain companies he visits he needs to be a US citizen. Is there any way if he gets letters from work stating how it’s vital for him to be a US citizen to complete his job, that the government will grant him citizenship earlier than the standard 5 years?

thanks.

No, the USCIS wouldn't care unfortunately. He needs to satisfy the requirements for naturalization. The earliest he can apply for citizenship is 3 years after he became LPR (Resident Since date on his green card), provided he passes physical presence, continuous residence, marital union tests and his N-400 interview. If he has a conditional card, he needs to file I-751 too before applying for US citizenship.

No.  The soonest he will be able to apply is by qualifying under the 3 year rule (marriage to a US citizen) (Green Card holder for 3 years).

3 years is the fastest a LPR can become a citizen if married to and resides with a US citizen spouse for all three years since getting the green card.

The only faster way to go for naturalization, in just one year, is if the LPR is a member of the US military.
