I understand there is no exact timeline or date however I am curious how long after your application has been received will you hear about next steps of what is needed? Currently 4 months in waiting to hear something and my friend who did this a couple years ago (I know it may have been a bit faster then) said we should've heard something by now.

You should have received a receipt notice ('NOA1) within the first month after sending the petition.

Currently, petitions are taking 15.5 months to adjudicate.

Nothing in US immigration is how it was years ago.

Right now it takes about 15 months for an approval. Few years ago was a whole different story

Thank you, yes I am aware of the current wait time now. It seems my friend made it seem like during the long waiting process they'll contact you to complete other documents but now I understand it would all be done closer to approval.

For K1s there’s really no contacting you to complete documents. It’s pretty much self service throughout the whole way, NVC will only email you when they send the petition to the consulate, they will not send it to inform you of your case # when they receive your petition, you’d have to reach out if you want to find out sooner. At the consulate usually K1s schedule their own interviews and medical

They will if everything was not included when the I-129f was submitted.  Otherwise, they won't contact the petitioner until approval.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Only if you get an RFE, but again, that wouldn't come until close to the 15 month adjudication time, because the petition is not looked at until then.

I would suggest downloading an app like Case Tracker or getting in habit of checking your case online periodically with USCIS. Like those before me had stated, this is a self-led (and -forced) experience the entire way. Be observant, be demanding, be curious (with your research), or be left behind.
