Hello all,

I am currently in the USA. I have sent back package 4 and awaiting the reply by the embassy to go for interview.

What method will they (London embassy) use to schedule an interview as I do not want to return until I have to. Will they use phone, email or postal service.

Thank you for any experience shared.

It varies by consulate. But for the UK, i think you can call the Dept of State to find out what your interview date is, if they haven't told you already. TimsDaisy has the number in her sig.

I presume you mean you have returned Packet 3 to the consulate, as Packet 4 is the envelope the consulate sends to you, via post, informing you of your interview date.

You will also need your medical exam prior to your interview.

Two years ago, my husband returned home on July 9, had his medical about 10 days later, and received P4 at the end of July. His interview date was Sept 6.

I would be going home as soon as possible if I were you. If you have returned P3 already, you are in the home stretch and it won't be long now until your interview. You need to get your medical sorted. If you have not already ordered your police certificate and long form birth certificate, you need to take care of those also.

Thank you both for your help. I was a little confused about which packet it is.

I attended the medical back in June and have collected all the forms necessary for the interview including police certificate, birth certificates and financial affidavids etc. So it is really only the interview date I am waiting for now that pack 3 reply has been with the embassy a few weeks . I shall await the last pack (4) from the embassy and get back to the UK soon

Thanks again

So you've sent back the forms and the checklist indicating you have all the documents in your hands, ready to go, correct? And you've done your medical at an approved doctor in London, correct?

Then you're waiting for "packet 4" which is the letter from the embassy saying you need to come on X day at Y time, bringing with you EVERYTHING you've collected at all stages of the journey plus your I-134 or whatever proof you're providing to show you won't be a public charge here.

That notification will come by mail.

In the meantime, as mentioned, you can call the US State Department Visa information office at 1-202-663-1225, press 1, then 0, and give an operator your LND case number. They can tell you if the Embassy has entered your packet 3 information into the computer system as having been received and if you are now "eligible to be called for an interview" and if so, if the date has been assigned. If you have the ability to fly on short notice, then I can't think of a problem waiting it out in the US, so long as you can get back in time. Since you're away from your home mail box, though, it might be useful for you to make semi-regular calls to the number above to keep track of things.

p.s. please fill out your timeline as it helps others trying to plan their waits tremendously. thanks.
