Late File Taxes/Transcipts IRS

My tax guy dropped the ball and didn’t file my taxes on time now it’s too late to E-file this years taxes. I had to go into a local IRS office to drop off my taxes and have them stamp it as proof that it was filed via paper. The man in the office told me that it can take up to 6 months just for the transcript to appear online because of the backlog 😩 however I have the physical copy with a stamp from the IRS as proof that it was filed via paper.  Will this a justifiable document to take to the interview?

Hmm the forum will be able to help you more if you complete your timeline, what you have filed, filing status and your last communication with USCIS/NVC.  You vaguely mention an interview, is this a i129f interview? Is this an adjustment of status interview? More information will help the very knowledgeable people here.

It’s December.  You both dropped the ball.

Make sure the entire return and all the attachments are brought to the interview.  W2’s, 1099’s, the works.  If it’s stamped filed then it suffices.

Not time to panic yet, so you have been married more than two years for your IR-1 to be valid. When is the interview you are worried about scheduled? Do you have joint bank accounts and other history? (you have a tax history while married from the previous year too)

Not really, they were filed earlier this year so I thought. However he said unbeknownst to him the IRS kicked back (rejected it)  the return for a form that I was missing. Had I not checked the website for my transcript I would Have never known. I literally Just found this out last week 🤦🏾‍♀️

Answer: A full and complete return with all attachments suffices for the support affidavit.
The rest was just e-teasing.

Best of luck!

That was initially the hold up I was trying to file for him a TIN number to add him on my taxes or file as married but filing separate, but they denied it for some reason. The wait times on the phones for the IRS are ridiculous to get through, so I never Did get a clear answer as to why. So I filed them early Oct which was before the deadline for E filing. That’s when they were rejected my tax guy wasn’t on top of things and missed the fact that they were never filed 🤦🏾‍♀️ anyways I submitted The taxes today to be filed they accepted the paperwork and stamped it. But the answer to your question is no we don’t have a joint account with my name on it. Nigerian gave us a hard time about trying to add my name to the account because they said I didnt Have residency for their country.

Don’t have an interview as of yet, just trying to be prepared just in case we do get one In the next few months.

@iwannaplay54 Knows more than me I think you are fine and will probably have the transcript ready before your interview anyways. We used "client copies" of tax filings from our accountant instead of any kind of original for our affidavit.

Our latest tax transcript was not available for NVC or at any point prior to the interview so we summited the complete filed 1040 with all schedules and forms required for filing.  Putting the W2's and 1099's up front and center, page 1.  I also included two or three pay stubs and tax transcripts from the two previous years just for good measure.  For us, that sailed through NVC and the Embassy trouble free.
