We emailed NVC and they sent my fiance the welcome letter with the case number and stuff.

I then made an account, filled in the ds-160, paid the fees and booked the interview.

I've not received anything yet personally and our case on the NVC says in transit.

As long as you have your welcome letter you're good to go.

Yes we also have the emailed welcome letter. He just made an account and we have everything else done. I thought we had to wait for "case ready" to book an interview but it seems like we don't. It also seems to be taking longer than others. I'll have him take a look. Thank you!!

First the embassy receives the case digitally and it changes to ready, then it receives the physical case right ? I'm asking because I noticed that my case changed to ready on the 16th, and it kept saying the last update was on the 16th until it changed to saying that the was update was on the 23rd. The status never changed, only the last update date. I think this is what went on; on the 16th they received it digitally and on the 23rd physically. I'm hoping to get the packet next week so I can finally schedule an interview.

We received a notification that the embassy sent us the packet, however they sent it to Bien Hoa instead of our apartment. When I first filled for the k1 she was living in Bien Hoa so I put that address on the application, however when we registered on the https://atlas.my.salesforce-sites.com/SiteLogin?country=Vietnam&language=en_US  website, we used our address in HCMC, they were supposed to use this address to send us the packet. Now we are going to have to go Bien Hoa tomorrow just to pick this up.

Update on mine for anyone looking at an idea of how long it might be for you.

Dec 20th: Noa2

Feb 22nd: Received case and invoice number. (This was the exact day because the day before they did not have it yet).

Mar 1st: In transit

It takes about 2 months to create the case at the NVC and another week for it to be on its way.

Dec 8th 2022 -NOA2

Jan 5th 2023 - NVC received my case

Feb 8th 2023 - NVC case # generated

Mar 1st 2023 -Notified case was sent to embassy

I think my case stayed at NVC a bit longer than other people with similar NOA2 because Seoul Embassy is a bit busy.

So we managed to schedule the interview for March 31st and the medical for March 17th. I think it'll give us enough time to gather all of the documents. I'm thinking about bringing the last 6 months of my banks statements plus my W-2s from 2021 and 2022 and also a co-sponsor, I think it should be enough.

Probably a dumb question, but:

My American fiancé got this letter in the mail from the US embassy in Canada addressed to me (Canadian) explaining how to proceed with my K1 application. I didn't get anything in the mail. Do I proceed? Why wouldn't they send it to me? This is strange...

Contrary to Ontarkie's stubborn insistence, this question is neither a duplicate nor in the wrong forum. The thread to which that question was wrongly merged asked when it's best to file AOS. The second question, the one linked, asks about whether/who to notify about moving. It was posted in the K1 forum, which is where it belongs. It doesn't belong in the K1 AOS forum because it doesn't ask anything about AOS.

Reality does not change by silencing those who reveal it.

I found out that I need the NVC invoice number to upload the documents to the CEAC website or the embassy will reject us on interview day. However NVC never sent us the number. I went through everything and I can't find it. So I sent an inquiry to the NVC. Hopefully they'll respond with the number on time.

Can you share where you found out that you need the invoice number? Everything I read up to now has indicated that the invoice number is needed to log into CEAC, but CEAC is only for immigrant visa cases like CR1/IR1. For K1 we should just need a case number to check CEAC status via https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx.

We had the interview today. They asked me more questions than they asked her. She answered a couple questions wrong but they didn't seem to care. She got approved. Hopefully she'll get the passport back soon. we are planning a trip before we move to the US.

Total days from NOA1 to interview: 588 days

Total days from NOA2 to Interview: 120 days
