The date you sign the form. Keep a copy Mail it the same day. Get a delivered receipt   Use this to argue your case with IRS if they question it. IRS  doesnt talk yo USCIS. And yes .. i relinquished my GC using the I 407 form when we left the US the first time. I had no further issues with IRS nor anything come up when we immigrated again years later and started filing again with the same SSN

Simple

Hi,

I am filing the form (I-407) abandonment of lawful permanent resident status, I have the followings questions please,

1.      Part 1.b ( your name exactly as it appears on your permanent resident Card)
The names arrangements and sequences in the permanent resident Card from top to bottom are shown as followings
Surname (XX)
After that
Given name (YY {first name} + ZZ {middle name} )
I am presuming that the meaning of that statement (your name exactly as it appears on your permanent resident Card )that I have to follow the same sequence and order as mentioned on the card (i.e. surname,{comma} after that given name) to fill part 1.b of I-407 which is just one field ONLY ,I tried to fill the name as I understood but the form I-407 didn’t accept comma as a separator between the surname and the given name, instead can I fill the name in this order (YY {first name} + ZZ {middle name} after that XX {surname}),I am proposing this sequence because No need for comma as a separator if the Given name is written before the surname .

2.      I noticed the presence of some difference between the front and the back of the permanent resident card in terms of the given name, the given name is very long, I noticed that the back side is showing full part of the given name, while the front side is showing full part of the rest given name, in this case which one shall I follow the given name mentioned on the front or at the back of the card.

3.      Part (14.a &14.b) who shall sign the form on behalf of the Minor child (age is less than 14 years) his father or his mother? As an evidence for his parental relation can we enclose only copy of his birth certificate? Is that enough evidence, I took this information from the form’s instruction (item number 14.a-14.c) page 2 of 4 .

4.      Part (1.2) I don’t have USCIS online account number can I fill N/A or No need to fill any thing in that field?

5.      (Part 2) ,I am Not using interpreter to fill this form, Noting that several related fields need to be filed if an interpreter has been used, can I fill all these fields by N/A? Or no need to fill any thing.

Thank you

1. Write your name as follows: First Middle Last.

2. see # 1 ( send copy of front and back of card and don’t worry about the field length of card production specs)
3.  Either parent ok to sign , yes show B/C to prove relationship

4. U can write none , n/a or leave blank

5. same as # 4

Thank you family for your swift response , appreciating

1- I can't understand your response to point #2 above,

Did you mean that I have to print my name as it is shown on the front side of the Green Card ? or to print it as it is shown on my passport ?, I am asking that again to avoid any mistake ,because it is mentioned in Part 1.b ( your name exactly as it appears on your permanent resident Card) noting that Part 3.a,b,c is asking for my current  legal name which it is supposed to be as per my passport.

2-It is mentioned in the form instruction that if a parent abandons LPR Status, any minor children in that parent's custody will also have abandoned their LPR Status ,the questions are

  • what is the age of the minor children under this definition? is it 14 years and younger OR different  ?
  • If one parent only abandons his LPR status can the other childs (regardless the ages) maintain there LPR status with the other parent , or it will be affected automatically?

Thank you

When given one field without separators you write out your full legal name as First Middle Last. Some cards or forms only allow limited character spaces so even if they do not show in its entirety , ur name does not change.

Abandonment in your case seems voluntary..is it in the best interest of the minor child or are parents at odds / in conflict?
I won’t theorize a response without understanding your particular facts …are parents divorced with one LPR parent living in US and other in home country? When did parent abandon LPR ( leave the US)?
When did child abandon?
Who has physical/legal custody?

Thank you family,

1- I will fill my name in Part 1.b in this sequences/ order ( first name+middle name +family name ), again due to some space limit in the green card ,some parts of the names are not shown on the green card ,just to make it easy and to follow the form's instruction mentioned in Part 1.b ( your name exactly as it appears on your permanent resident Card) ,in this case shall I fill it as it is appears in the green card ? knowing that some slight difference between the front and the back of the green card as some parts of the name are not shown (it might be due to space limit in the green card ) ,simply which  side ( the front or the back of the green card) shall I follow to fill Part 1.b?

2- Part 3.a,b,c is asking for my current legal name I will fill it as it is appears in my passport.

3- We are not divorced ,we are living together outside the USA with our children ,we left the USA ( entire family) like almost 5 months ago, yes it is Voluntary .

Regards
