Name Change for AOS

Hi everyone, I have 2 big questions, please
1. Legal name change
a. I have officially changed my name (to an English-sounding name, otherwise people find it difficult to say my foreign/maiden name)
so should I put the new english name in all my AOS applications: I-485, I-765 and I-131?
but how does the i-131 work since my passport is still in my original/foreign name?

b. I had SSN issued in my original/maiden name before
Should I order for a new one in my new name? Will I get 2 different SSNs?
Do you check "yes" to request for SSN for both I-485 and I-765 or just one of them or none?

 

c. anyone have had any problem associated with legally changing your name?
If yes, how do you solve it?

2. Driving license
How do you get around while waiting for your green card? (only big cities have public transport)
The local registration say they cannot give me local driving license until I bring proof of permanent residency/legal status in the usa,
so how do I get around until I get my green card (which notoriously take long time)?

Yes. Include proof of name change document (I’m assuming a copy of the marriage certificate)

You carry your proof of name change document when you travel (again I assume marriage certificate). I had no issues with that so far

You can’t do that until you have a GC or an EAD to show SSA. They will most likely not issue you one without either of those even if you show them your marriage certificate. I went after I got my GC through AOS, no issues.

That is a downside of choosing the AOS path. You simply don’t drive because  that’s against the law in your particular state. Use Uber, ask for rides from friends and family or move to a state that allows driving regardless of immigration status or has a good transportation system. There’s really no way around that.

Not really an issue but a temporary inconvenience: since my SSN was in my maiden name and I haven’t gotten GC/EAD there was a mismatch in names in documents. DL was in married name, everything else including bank cards and health insurance cards in maiden since they strictly go off of the SSN. It hasn’t caused any issues, e.g when I went to the doc I’d show my DL and my insurance card and they didn’t bat an eye
