3 months ago a had to leave US to finish studies in my country,so i applied for AP.After AP was approved,i left US.While i was outside US, i received the green card.In 4 days i will travel back to US.I will have my GC with me.What should i do when i go to POE?Do i have to show them only the GC,or the AP also?Am i going to have any problems?

I have another question as well:is anybody here who had any problems on boarding to a plane for returning into US while the GC was pending, and all the documentation presented at chekin counter was a passport, and AP (I 152L form)?A few days ago,i was refused to board on my plane because i didn't show them the green card, but only my passport and a valid i152 L form.Of course,i lost my plane, bought another ticket and asked my husband to send me my GC with Fedex.

I'm thinking you will need to show your AP document at the POE when arriving back in the States.

I would say you should show them the Green Card. After all the AP became invalid as soon as the GC was approved. Plus by using AP you're not legally entering the USA.

I know I'm disagreeing with KarenCee here, but if you have your Green Card on you I can't think of any reason why you should not use it. If anyone else can think of a reason I'd be interested to hear it, but personally I think that attempting to use the AP could cause issues.

Congrats BTW.

Well, the only reason I said what I did was I'm guessing the approval date on the GC is after her departure from the States and would the POE question that, does that make sense? I do agree that AP is invalid once the GC is approved. Anywho, I *did* say "I think". :D

I know you need the GC to reenter the US , but since you didnt have it on you why not just show both the ap and the GR , incase they want to know if you left without ap you got prove , and can allways show the fed ex envelope proving your husband send the GC , they should see the dates and put 2 and 2 together ?? It's my two pennies, but... You left the country legally with tall the papers you needed. You have your GC & the AP to show that you indeed left legally, I don't think why they should cause you trouble. You had a good reason to be out of the country, just tell them how things went and that your husband sent you your GC by fedex.

Just you bet, as soon as you show the GC, they'll just say welcome home ;)

08.2006: Entered with a B-2 visa.

07.06.07: Civil Wedding

07.17.2008 AOS approved with interview. It took 367 Days!

11.08.08: Big family wedding

09.18.09-10.03.09: First trip to France with Hubby

I-751

04.19.10: Package sent to Vermont

04.21.10: Delivered in Vermont

04.22.10: NOA date

04.23.10: Check cashed

05.17.10: Received biometrics appointment letter

06.07.10: Biometrics Appointment

06.26.10: Touched

07.07.10: Card Production Ordered!

07.17.10: Card in the mail :) Done until citizenship

Just to add, this is how I would handle the situation. Basically tell the CBP officer nothing. Go in the US Citizens line (as any Green Card holder would) and give him your passport and Green Card. If (and only if) the subject of the AP/Green Card date comes up, show him the AP and explain the situation. Giving a CBP officer too much information can often be the worst thing. Let him take the lead on the questions, don't volunteer anything unless asked.

A friend of mine left USA with the greencard stamp.Later his card arrived in the mail and he came in using his card without any problems. In your case it was the AP. Just show them your greencard and only present and answer questions when asked for AP. Good luck and don't worry its not that big of a deal.
