Contacting congressmen to expedite 129F

Not too long ago me and my fiance filed form 129F and due to his unfortunate circumstances we realized we may be eligible for an expedite.

I wanted to do this by contacting congressmen, unfortunately both senators and the representative in Texas have been openly against the recent the recent bill protecting same-sex marriage, so I expect my request would be immediately dismissed given me and my fiance are gay.

I'm aware I could contact USCIS directly but figured it'd be easier and better if done through someone in congress, is there anything I can do to send my request or should I just contact USCIS myself at this point?

Many have tried and failed when the circumstance was related to the foreign beneficiary instead of the US citizen.    Good luck.  Why not just contact USCIS yourself?

They are handled by an Intern whatever and if you want to use them fine or contact direct, your call.

Be aware that expediting is part of the process now so do not expect a quick or favorable outcome.

perfect thank you, I was confused about who'd even handle our case there

We know the chances to get an approved expedite are pretty low but there's still a chance so why not try? From what I've seen the worst they'll do is say no and we'll keep on waiting

congressmen can not help your case get expedited / they can inquire about cases and get same info u get but they can not help or interfere in cases

that info i got from my senator when i asked for help

Read this from one Senator's office

https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/tips-for-submitting-casework#:~:text=U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services&text=The senator's staff will be,for at least one year.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

  • All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the agency Director. The criteria are: Severe financial loss to company or individual, extreme emergent situation, humanitarian situation, nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States, Department of Defense national interest situation, USCIS error, compelling interest of USCIS.
  • Cases pending an “FBI NAME CHECK”: The expedite criteria listed above does not apply. The senator’s staff will be happy to assist you in following up on the status of your pending name check if your case has been pending with the FBI for at least one year.

I've heard of cases with positive outcome. But they are exceedingly rare.

Our Congressman was able to get from USCIS a page-long response about where they were with processing, which actually revealed more information than both the website and our previous inquiries. USCIS most certainly has a 'congressional liaison' office and it was my understanding those individuals specially answered representative inquiries.

Thus, while I agree with the above 100% that the rep won't be able to do anything you cannot, there is something to be said about having their backing. In OP's case, the worst the rep can say is 'no' and then they just request themselves.
