Yep! Been searching also and found that. Looks okay. Layover is pretty excessive but I already slept in Helsinki Airport for 17 hours:) not too bad ha!

Eh, I don't trust flying on Russian airlines right now; flying western planes (or even Russian planes with western engines) operated by companies that can't legally get spare parts does not seem safe.

My wife flew Emirates, Chicago/Dubai in late summer.  Then overnight stay in Dubai (at quite reasonable cost, cheaper than many USA hotels) then Flydubai nonstop to Novosibirsk.  The layover was short

Do you have a particular date range in mind? Take a look at splitting your journey somewhere, for instance, booking US->Turkey, Turkey -> Russia, or instead of Turkey, substitute Qatar, Dubai, A

Shamelessly stolen from another site:

 

As of the spring of 2023, Air Serbia will be launching nonstop flights between Belgrade (BEG) and Chicago (ORD):

  • The route will operate 2x weekly as of May 17, 2023 (Wednesdays and Saturdays)
  • The route will operate 3x weekly as of June 12, 2023 (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays)

The schedule for the 4,998-mile flight will vary with each frequency, clearly to maximize aircraft utilization. The flight will depart Belgrade as early as 6:50AM and as late as 5:20PM, and the flight will depart Chicago as early as 12:40PM and as late as 11:10PM. The westbound flight is blocked at 11hr, while the eastbound flight is blocked at 9hr50min.

Absolutely amazing, will definitely have to look into this! Our other option here is Turkish which isn't bad but it's technically longer to fly there.

But they have nonstop planes to Russia whereas with Serbs one has to learn patience.
