Hi,

Friend of mine, used an immigration lawyer to file for his son,  lawyer filed I 130 and we don't know how he filed online or paper. Now to file I-485 lawyer is asking another 3000 dollars additional.

Son, created the USCIS account where he received status update that I 130 is approved, now to file I-485, we looked but USCIS website doesn't give options to file I-485 online. So does he have to send it through the mail ?

If so, does my friend has to file I 864 ( affidavite of support)?

How can he pay the fees?

Please kindly answer these questions, thanks

He is 22; he came to live with his father when he was 17 because his mom abandoned him. Unfortunately his father filed for his adjustment last year. After the DNA verification case recently got approved and uscis asked for I-485.

Father is a US Citizen.

He was a minor in France and because majore issue in parenting, his father went to France and brought him to United states. He came as a tourist. He completed his highschool in US.

His father applied for his green card, by sumitting I 130 which recently got approved.

As long as I-130 receipt has a filing date BEFORE son turned 21, then he should complete adjustment packet now and just include copy of I-130 approval ( even receipt notice NOA 1 sufficient ).

Filing fee $1,225 only Forms  I-485, I-765, I-131 , I-864 and sealed medical.
