All docs accepted but note requesting divorce decree

We received an email from NVC stating there's an update. Our case shows all docs with "accepted" status, but there's a note requesting my divorce decree & to refer to document finder. However, there's no place to upload this doc. I'm the USA petitioner and under my name there is no "other " area to upload docs.  My husband is the beneficiary and when I click under his name, there is an option to upload other docs, but he's never been married.

Where do we upload my divorce decree? What is "document finder"?

Why do all our docs have an "accepted" status but they are requesting this divorce decree?

This is so frustrating.

You upload it under the applicant's name, not your name, because this is a civil document.

If you've been married before, of course they're going to ask for your divorce termination document. Make sure it is the correct document if issued in a different country by referring to nvc.state.gov/find

Cross-check that you have provided all the documents required of you so that you get DQ'd this time. Good luck.

Thanks so much. We had submitted my divorce decree when we filed the petition last year.  It wasn't part of the requested docs when we first started the NVC process with them in June 2022. They had requested a better copy of my husband's Nigerian police clearance, but just now requested this divorce decree. So since it's under "additional documents", does that mean we won't go all the way to the back of the line?

There’s no communication between USCIS and DOS/NVC (outside of security issues and if you’ve applied for a visa to DOS, the USCIS would know), so don’t assume that “they already have it”. It’s an inefficient strategy to wait for them to request a document, because that will be one RFE after the other. Study the NVC process on travel.state.gov well and provide what they say is necessary.

Unfortunately, responding to an RFE takes you to the back of the line even if it’s an additional document.

Petitioner's divorce decree(s) is in the NVC checklist for required civil documents, listed under "Petitioner Documents" here -- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html

Ok, thank you for the advice. I've uploaded it and went thru the list under "additional documents " and fortunately, we submitted everything else in June to NVC and all docs have been accepted, with the exception of this newly submitted divorce decree. I appreciate your help.

Thank you so much. We had submitted everything else on the list, back in June, fortunately. Hopefully we covered everything this time!
