Hey guys,

My N-400 interview is coming up. Does LA FO offer same day ceremony these days?

Thank you!

Yes.  Not all cases get same day oath.  But it happens.

Thank you for the quick response. Is it a rare occurrence if one is scheduled a same day ceremony?

As you can see from https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=Los+Angeles+CA&op1=6&op2=&op4=1&op5=5%2C10%2C11&cfl= historically same day oath is norm.  However December 2022 has apparently been  a bad month.  You’d have to research those cases to see if the VJ member just has undated the timeline or if there is a new trend.

Neither of the two field offices in downtown L.A. did same-day oath when I became a citizen in 2021. They only did oaths two days a week (sometimes if you were lucky and had your interview early in the day and there happened to be an oath that same day, you could get in).

Hey @Scandi Thanks for the response! I have an update.

So today around 8:00am, I entered the Federal Building in downtown LA. When I checked in with the reception, the lady told me they just brought back same-day oath! And sure enough, I took advantage of it, and became a citizen at 10:35 am this morning. It totally took about 75 mins from the moment the interview started to when I received the certificate. LA FO really upped their game. At least in my case(I applied in mid-July).

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Yeah I think they did same-day oath before the pandemic too, then during the pandemic it stopped. Glad to hear they're back to same-day oath again. And congrats!

Hi Mike, I'd love to. Give me a bit time to figure out how to update it. Sorry. I'm new here, and still triying to figure things out.
