Can petitioner come with immigrant on first time entry

Petitioner must enter before or at the same time as the intending immigrant. It’s best to stick together in one line (you can stay with them in the visitor/immigrant line depending on your airport regardless of what the workers say) so you are processed at the same time.

You can enter together.  They will likely make the immigrating spouse go to secondary to process the visa, which you can’t do with them.  It’s not a long process.  But otherwise yes, people do it.

Like others have said, both of you can enter on the same day, stand on the same line for processing and the new immigrant will be taken to secondary while the spouse will wait maybe at baggage claim or wherever you agree to meet. When I came in for the first time I was with My spouse, I spent about 40minutes at secondary (due to many others who were at secondary before Me) and she was at baggage claim, I simply asked for directions from airport staff and also I followed the signs,We met at baggage claim and My spouse was already loading our suitcases on the trolleys.

I entered with my spouse. They took me to secondary with my spouse and asked me questions as well. So it all depends.

I came with my spouse and we were together. Officer asked questions and we were both done at the same time in the security gate - whole process took 5 minutes. No additional steps.

You can enter together.  Your beneficiary gets “taken to the back” for awhile to get processed, you’ll have to wait outside (I just wait in baggage claim) until they get their data entered.
