Last Thursday, August 8th, I did my combo interview which seemed more like a N-400 interview. The officer was wonderful and she greeted me with a big smile (what a difference this makes!). She said my husband was not needed at all and sent him to the general waiting room. I didn't end up bringing my 3 year old daughter after all. At the end of the interview, the officer said I wasn't approved on the spot because she needed to get ahold of my I-751 application and approve it first. A day after the interview, a piece of mail was sent with the oath ceremony time and date! I'm almost done with USCIS.

Just wanted to update the group.

We filed 751 on 1/3/23

Cases were sent to YSC

Biometrics were taken 2/6/23

Since that time we basically just put it out of our minds since the trend was an ever lengthening process.

This morning I awoke to find 2 sms and 2 emails from uscis.

Status changed to NEW CARDS BEING PRODUCED.

Not a bad way to start a Monday!

As I hoped we were not required to interview for the removal of conditions step.  I assume since we did interview during the AOS process.

Wish you all the very best and a speedy resolution to your own cases.

Like @jackiegringa I also got my 10 year green card recently and returned it last Thursday during my oath ceremony. Today, I got the notification by USCIS stating that my case was closed! I’m happy it’s over. Best of luck to everyone

Update, got approved with a divorce waiver today!

So glad this part of the journey is finally over!

Congrats!

Asking for a friend who has filed for I-751 and is about to file for divorce, in your experience, do you feel like your case was impacted by the divorce?

Not really, fell into same timeline as other non divorce filers and didn't get asked for any RFE or another interview (had one at 485 stage when still married)

But how would this matter? Would your friend stay married to get GC approved faster if it was faster for joint filers? That's considered fraud .

I agree, but her lawyer gave her the advice to stay married because otherwise her case would go to the “complicated” cases pile. That’s why I want to tell her about @Sweetdreaming experience AND to switch lawyers!

That's aweful advice. Staying married for immigration benefit is fraud. Yes, divorce waiver can take longer, but what's the hurry? The friend will get 4 year extension letter. They'd have same rights as somebody with 10 year GC.

But also note, we were married over 2 years at time of divorce and I had a good amount of bonafide evidence and I can't imagine there would be other red flags to my case that I can think of.

There could be other reasons her lawyer is guiding her the way they are.

No two divorces are gonna be the same in USCIS eyes, but yeah it's possible for it to go smoothly as I'm evidence of.

Status changed today from fingerprints to "New Card is Being Produced" 🙂. No approval message but assume this means that will be coming as well.

Receipt date is 1/10/2023 with no N400 filed, just I-751.

Yes, messaging is weird with GC approvals.

It's normal to get "New Card is Being Produced" status first, followed eith case approval. It was the same with my case.

Mine also changed to "New Card is Being Produced" yesterday! My case was received on Jan 27, 2023.

Does anyone know how long it might take to receive a new card since this notification? I will be traveling in a few weeks and would like to know if it will get delivered by then.
