Hi there! My husband is trying to add me to his deployment orders but he requires a social security number to do that. I don’t have an SSN because I am awaiting a visa. How do we go through the process, has anyone faced similar case?

Please can someone assist?

You can't get SSN until after you enter the US with your spouse visa.  If SSN is truly required for you to be added to his deployment orders, then it's a no-go for you until after you become an LPR.

Thank you. I really appreciate your response.

You're already registered in deers as his spouse? Or is that the problem that he's trying to do it and they give him the run around? If so he needs to escalate it as high as needed cause they can use a placeholder just like anybody else except for the IRS.

And you mean PCS orders right? Deployments are unaccompanied and nobody is going to add a dependent to it SSN or not.

If you're really talking about on overseas PCS than you'll also have to go through the EFMP screening before you can get command sponsored and added to his orders.

I think you mean to be added to DEERS as a dependent so then you can be added to PCS orders. You do not need an SSN or tax number. I just added my non US spouse who is living in South America to my DEERS with a photocopy of her passport, National ID and an original apostilled marriage certificate. Next I will need to have her do a medical exam (using the form for those who cannot acces or get to a US medical facility/doctor) and submit that to EFMP. Once we both get to the foreign country I will start the I-130 and visa process as we will be overseas together for 24 months. I am hoping to use the DCF process and go through the Department of State instead of USCIS
