hello fellow VJ-ers,

I have some questions:

# I emailed NVC with my NVC casenumber and my choice of agent who is my husband. Because i did not wanna wait for the DS3032 to arrive (which still hasnt arrived). Now i got worried, cos in James shortcuts it says that you have to sent out a copy of the form through email? I sent this:

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Eva Hamilton, my visa case number is ****.

Unfortunately I cannot locate my ds-3032 and would like to appoint my

husband as my agent of choice to receive all the correspondence from NVC.

His name and address is:

Clifton Hamilton

37 Deerfield blvd

23666 Hampton VA

All mail from the U.S. Department of State concerning my immigration visa

application should be send to the address above. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely yours,

Eva Hamilton

Should this be enough?

# before we can sent in the DS230 and the I864 downloaded from the internet, do the DS3032 and the AOS bill have to be in the system first before we can sent this out?

# where can i find how to create to coversheet with barcode that are supposed to go with this papers?

# since my husband is the choice of agent, does this mean he will receive my DS230 and he also has to fill it out for me?

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi,

Well first of all, it's not a good idea to lie in the email and say : 'Unfortunately I cannot locate my ds-3032' - I know it's a 'white' lie, but still not good form. They don't really care if you can find it or not, I wouldn't even put that line in the email.

Secondly, I am following James's shortcuts. In the shortcuts it says nothing about sending an email that I can see - it wasn't part of the original shortcuts posted perhaps. That said, if there is a newer version of the shortcuts it might include both manual posting of the DS-3032 and the email - I'm just not sure what you are looking at.

Bottom line - you can just send the email (you do not need to email the actual 'form'). It can take 10 days or more to get a reply, on the other hand it can take just one day - depends on who is opening the email I guess.

By E-mail

The NVC’s e-mail address is NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

In order to ensure a prompt response:

The Subject Line of the e-mail should be the relevant NVC Case Number.

Provide the applicant’s name and date of birth and the petitioner’s name and date of birth.

If you are an attorney, include the name of the law office requesting the information.

If the petition is employment-based, include the company/organizational name.

Reference only one case per e-mail.

Firstly, I recommend that you read THIS thred. It can give answers to most (or even all) of your shortcut questions.

In short. Here is a barcode generator, but you NEED to read the directions found on THE THREAD I pointed at above. Othervice you may get an RFE and we don't want that to happen :). You need to fill out the DS-230 (part I only), sign it and it's recommended that you send it to your husband in advance. You can leave the date next to your signature blank if you wish, so that your husband can fill it out for you.

Secondly, I would advice AGAINST sending BOTH a DS-3032 physical form and a DS-3032 e-mail. Sending them both will not help your case, but it may mix the NVC up, causing delayments to your case. You can either send a DS-3032 via e-mail or you can send it to them overnight via USPS the same day it's generated. If you don't get an reply to your DS-3032 e-mail for ten days, you may want to speak with an operator. Miraculously this has helped many of us to get our e-mails accepted the same day or the day after. In some cases you may need to resend the DS-3032 e-mail, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Thirdly, I wouldn't post your whole case number or your address online. Even if most of us are friendly, there may be some stalkers or other illvilling people reading these forums :(.

I don't think the original poster was intending to send it both via email and a hard copy. She/he was asking if they needed to send the actual form via email.

I agree about the case number, you might want to ask to have that removed from your posting.

Hi,

I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if anybody else has given you this advice yet, but:

You shouldn't post your whole information (address, case number etc) on a public board. Edit it if you still can.

# before we can sent in the DS230 and the I864 downloaded from the internet, do the DS3032 and the AOS bill have to be in the system first before we can sent this out?

# You cannot send the DS-230 nor the I-864 untill the NVC says that they have generated the instructions for both forms.

# The DS-230 is filled out by the beneficiary, Part I signed, Part II unsigned. So since your husband will get the instructions, you should send him the DS-230 ASAP so he can have it ready for when he receives the instructions.
