Living in FL, but the interview in NYC

A friend of mine in Florida was married to her husband overseas. There's local office in Tampa, but had her CR1 interview in the Manhattan office in NYC.

We both found it kinda strange, but is it normal not to interview at the nearest local office?

Has this happened to anyone else on here? just curious. 🤔

That was not a CR1 interview.  CR1 visa interviews are only conducted by US consulates, which are all outside the US.

Is your friend in Florida the intending immigrant?  Perhaps your friend is applying for a green card (CR6 status) after entering the US on a K1 or other non-immigrant visa?

No, she's a US citizen.

And she had an interview?

Sorry we're a bit confused here. What about her spouse? Where is he? In the US or outside? Did he already had an interview?

I'm confused also, that's why I threw the question out there. She is the petitioner, AND he is outside the US. I might have titled it wrong, it might have been the interview for the NVC stage. If I did, I'm very sorry for the confusion.
