A couple weeks ago, I ordered my mother's birth certificate through Vitalchek (which communicates with the State records department).  I had the certified BC in my hands 2 days later.

This. I've had both my children's birth certificates in hand in under a week - 1 from PA the other from OK & I'm in Idaho.

Hi all,

I have my N400 interview in two weeks. Can someone please help me with the questions that will be asked and what documents I have to bring?

I am studying for the 2008 test as I originally applied for N400 in October 2022. I am also studying my N400 application to make sure there aren't any contradictions. Also memorizing dates for when I left the country.

I have seen on a vlog on YouTube that some applicants were asked vocabulary questions such as definitions of oath, genocide, separated, guerilla group, gambling, etc. Is this true? If so what is the source of this study material? How come I haven't seen this elsewhere?

The documents that I intend to bring:

My passport

Green card

State ID

Spouse passport (for proof of US birth)

Wedding Certificate

Child Birth certificate

Tax transcripts

Bank statements

Joint insurance document

Am I missing anything else? Thanks!

Of course each interview is different, your list looks good, I was proactive and got some extra documents, None were asked, My IO simply told Me after I passed the civics and English test that he will ask 3 “difficult” questions to Me. The questions were what is your spouse’s name, spouse’s dob,our wedding date. After I gave the answers, he approved My application. So yes, you should know basic questions about your spouse. I had no ROC interview and My spouse wasn’t needed at My n400 interview. Good luck to you.

Our interview is on January 10th next year and the interview letter explicitly asks(please see attached) for original Naturalization Certificate but have only a copy of it. Ordering it supposedly takes anywhere from 6-8 months. Needless to say, we are very concerned...

Has anyone brought Copy of the Naturalization Certificate and the original passport to prove Spouse's citizenship? We are looking for how the interviewing officers have addressed this in other cases.

@Danmuji it's best to order the certificate of naturalization now, since you may need the original some time in the future anyway. IO may never ask to see it. Or they can issue RFE and you'll have to get it...

Either way, just get it. There is no way of knowing upfront whether you'll be asked to show it.

At least you could tell IO you lost it and ordered replacement.

Hello

Sharing my experience here.

I was married but I got divorced so this is based off of the 5 year rule.

The IO did ask about the dates for when I left the country. I did make a slight mistake but it was not taken as a red flag.

I would say study ALL of the 100 questions and just review your application and bring whatever extra documents as evidence.

For my case since I am divorced, I only needed to bring documents that identify me such as GC, DL, birth certificate, interview notice, tax transcripts, divorce decree and the letter my lawyer wrote as my divorce was finalized 8/11/20 but I did not get the decree until October and in the meantime, my case was approved and I wanted to notify USCIS that I was divorced.

Hope this helps and good luck!
