I suspect he might be taking it as a personal insult because you're, you know, making personal insults.

My husband's name is clearly on the inside of the mailbox (First initial. Last Name). His EAD was returned as undeliverable despite it having the address 100% correct (despite what we initially feared). My only guess is that the postal carrier was confused by the LAST NAME, First Name format.

But...um. It had the apartment number on it. It had the last name on it...I just don't get it.

Anyway, I'd put some sort of sticker in the mailbox to ensure its delivery. USPS is very testy, so making their job easier is best for everyone. I don't understand why putting your name in a mailbox (which is standard practice where I come from) is causing so much controversy...sheesh.

And I never understood why you take such personal offense when anyone does anything contrary to your way of thinking?

Lets get this straight here: Not my way of thinking, USCIS's way of thinking.

It's quite simple. The USPS does not have a system wide requirement for everyone to post their names on/in their mailboxes. If no such requirement exists, then state it as such. Don't be telling people they have to do this. They do NOT. It's NOT a requirement. Don't try to scare people into believing it's a requirement when it's not.

Lets make this simple: Some people have not had their Green Cards delivered because their names are not on their mailbox. I never stated that not having your name on your mailbox guaranteed non-delivery, just that means that there's a higher than 0% probability of your card not getting delivered. There have been cases on this very website of people not getting their cards for this reason.

Given that the fix is, as has been pointed out many time, extremely cheap, simple and USCIS recommended, then why do you have a problem with me recommending it?

Even more: Can you give me one reason not to do it, other than your "privacy" argument, which is specious.

SirLancelot... what is your problem here???? we are sharing our experience about how to try and avoid the possibility of your Greencard not being delivered....

You may think it is a silly thing to tell people but I for one dont... it is recommended by USCIS and if all it takes is a small piece of paper and a pen and a bit of tape to solve this problem then it is the easiest thing to do...

You seam to have a issue with Dr LHA as I have noticed you use every opportunity to have a go at him.... maybe that is something you should try and keep to PM so that you dont go confusing members with you negitive remarks....

Had the issue myself of mail being returned because it was in my maiden name and it was my married name in the mailbox. It was not even USCIS stuff, just some other government papers from Canada. I talked to the mail guy when I saw him one day and he said that he would not deliver the mail if the name doesnt match just in case it would be some wrong address.

So USCIS make it a suggestion to make you you get your mail.

So...

1- Put a piece of paper with your name on it in the mailbox = 50 cents

2- Application to Replace Permanent Residence Card I-90 Filing Fee= $290

My choice in this case is kinda obvious to avoid any problems with USCIS

I certainly would not take any chances whatsoever with my mail from USCIS so my name and hubbys name are on the inside of our mailbox, as we are renting we aren't allowed to deface the outside of our landlord's mailbox even with a bit of paper and sticky tape with our names on it...seems silly really...but thats her rules and we must obide by them.
