Hello all,

My beneficiary no longer resides, nor receives mail, at the addresses we indicated in the original form I-129. We received notice a few days ago that our K-1 Visa Application had been approved by USCIS, and was being transferred to the National Visa Center.

Our question is, should we get in contact with the National Visa Center to update the beneficiary's mailing address so that they don't mail important documents to him at an old address? If so, what's the best way to get in contact with them? Or will the NVC reach out via other means (email, notice to petitioner, etc.)?

Thanks!

At this stage, the next step in the process will be that the petitioner will receive an email with the NVC case number (it is different than the WAC number as it starts with three letters indicative of the country Embassy followed by 9 digits).

Fill out the NVC Public Inquiry Form here, add both petitioner/beneficiary email addresses, DOB, phones, WAC#, etc. Do this ASAP as it is taking them upwards of 2-3 months to reply to this inquiry. This is the only way to reach out to them effectively/successfully, you can no longer make phone calls to NVC.

Once NVC has provided the case number to the petitioner (via email only), the case is forwarded to the Embassy and it is at this stage you may need to update the address. I believe you may need to update the address by sending an email to the Embassy once you case is forwarded to the Embassy in the beneficiary country.

Please fill out your timeline so that others may chime in and tell you how the process works as it is very country specific. For example, UAE Embassy does not send any physical mail to the beneficiary however, at the India Embassy the beneficiary does receive physical mail in the form of a 'welcome letter' with instructions.

Thank you for the very helpful information!

The beneficiary lives in Dubai, UAE, so do you think we don't even need to worry about updating the mailing address? Would doing so just slow the process down for us?
