Quick question! Do we have to send out the naturalization certificate again to renew an expired passport?.  What type of documents would be good enough for a renewal?

Generally an expired or unexpired passport or passport card that is not damaged.
 

This btw is yet an another reason to have a passport card. Not only is it backup proof of citizenship (that you can use instead of a naturalization certificate or passport) it is easily 100 times more damage resistant.

I was able to renew my passport online during their beta period. I think they rolled it out. 

 

Create an account at https://mytravel.state.gov

 

 

I think it takes about 48 hours for the button to appear on the main page. I didn't need to send physically. Everything is uploaded.
