Issues concerning inheritance and access to IRA & 401K funds are easier if the beneficiary becomes a US citizen. Otherwise, the USC should execute various legal documents and even then, the beneficiaries security may be problematic. For most people, these retirement issues are far over the horizon, but not for all of us.

Yup - I'll apply for citizenship as soon as I'm eligable. I want to have dual citizenship with the UK/US. I know at some point we were thinking of living in Europe again somewhere - so we'll want the option to live away from the states without worrying about losing the greencard and starting the visa process again!

Well I dont know .

On 1 hand having the GC is enough for me cause I can be totally legally with my hubby and work and all .

But on the other hand guess there are less restrictions if you are a US Citizen . Just looking at some job offers alot them only accept US Citizens.

But I would then also like dual citizenship BE/US.
