Mohammed tells me TONIGHT he got a 221g requesting the copy of the lease. This is a denial but they will reconsider his application again when we submit the lease. Someone please help me and explain what is happening now???? Do they run all the checks again? Does he have to interview again?

Jean the 221(G) is for the AR/AP. They have to tell you something when they do not issue the visa. He is not denied at this time. Once he turns in the lease they will continue looking at his processing. This is just a formality.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Lucia got a 221g yellow paper after our interview. We had to provide a migratory movement document and send back with her passport when completed. No additional interview was required, although the CO did say it might be needed based on the information that came back. We got the documents together, sent the forms in and had the visa in a couple of days.

So....this is really not a denial. They just need more information and this is the form they use to accomplish that.

Administrative review. I thinkg this is common for your embassy. Stay with it, it will be resolved soon. Good luck! :D

Yes, it's just a formality. The consulates give a 221g whenever they have some reason for not issuing the visa. The reasons can range from a missing document to a pending security check or, worst of all, a case returned to USCIS.

We got a 221g for not having an Israeli police certificate. At my husband's interview, the consulate told him they would issue the visa as soon as they got the police report, and asked if they could keep his passport. It took about 6 and a half weeks from the interview until the visa was in hand.

Seems the lease is all Cairo wants to continue processing your case. Just get it to them as soon as you can. Then you should be good to go insha'allah, unless they also need to do an administrative review/security check. Then it's just a matter of waiting until they're done.

Don't worry... you're doing great !

It's definitely not a denial, it's just their official way of saying they need more information to decide on the case. That information could be a specific document (in your case, the lease) or it could be something non-specific like "administrative processing" for a security check. Provide the lease as they request, and they'll review your case again. The majority of us got this paper prior to being approved.

Stay positive!
