So this is how republics die.  Not with a bang but with the hoarse ramblings of their ageing leaders.  Few events have shone a light on 'American decline' as much as Joe Biden's sad, impassive performance in last night's CNN presidential debate.  Here was the leader of the free world speaking in faint, broken tones, and struggling to stay focussed, and at points seeming to blank out entirely.  Before the eyes of the world, it became clear: this man is too old, too frail and too infirm to be at the helm of America.

The problem is that there will need to be something offered to get Kamala to step aside, and relinquish the funds the Biden/Harris campaign controls and that is altering offering Old Joe something to get out.  Personally, I don’t see Joe and his ego allowing him to step down.  Aside from that, who comes in?  Hair Gel is polling worse than Kamala, and if they choose a middle aged white guy over a prime DEI pick, how do the voters react.

 

In the end, it will not be easy to dump Joe, and the logistics will be daunting.

Can Democrats Just Dump Biden And Move On?  It's Not That Simple

 

Will Democrats replace Joe Biden as their presidential nominee?

It's not that simple, logistically or politically, as long he's still alive.  States have pretty strict rules on last-second ballot changes, but Democrats have always found ways to get courts to rewrite laws for them at the last second.  Just look at what they did for Frank Lautenberg and Robert Torricelli in New Jersey.  It would be a heavy lift but not an impossible one.

 

The real problem for Democrats is political: Removing Biden as nominee requires them to deny and reject the election results of their voters in all 50 states after they spent four years accusing everyone else of being "election deniers."  They also will have a very hard time removing Biden as nominee but leaving him in as president.  If he's not mentally fit to be on the campaign trail or debate stage, how on Earth can he be fit enough to remain as president?  The downsides of that strategy are immense, with little upside.  [...]

I don't think that the elites, if they approach Bidementia directly, will have any luck getting him to withdraw.  He's not in a position to decide.

 

An overthrow at or after the Dem convention wouldn't work well, either, from what we're reading.

 

No one has yet suggested criminally charging Dr. Jill with elder abuse specifically so she'll agree to withdraw Bidementia from the race, thus opening the field.  Valid or invalid idea?
