The USCIS made the mistake on not sending my approved I-130 to the NVS after I Did state on Page 8 that my wife would be going to a US Embassy. I ended up still having to file an I-824 and pay the $460 for THEIR MISTAKE!. my wifes I-130 got approved in Feb 2023 and I Submitted the I-824 and I was received by the USCIS in May 2023. It has been at the Potomac Service Center for over 10 months now and the latest update still says we received it. it should be renamed from Potomac processing center to Potomac graveyard. If the USCIS hadn't made THEIR MISTAKE and sent the Approved I-130 to the NVC it would have taken only up to 6 weeks to get to the NVC, its been over 10 months. my wife would have been here by now. this is so frustrating

We are in same boat, waiting for 9 months at Vermont service center, yet no signs of approval

I just wanted to give everyone an update. We were approved last Thursday. I sent the i824 in Oct 2022. So it took us about 17 months at the Potomac service senter. Best of luck to everyone.

Congratulations!! 17 months is crazy but it’s all behind you!! Wishing you smooth sailing from here out on!

Hi HKAA, does your I-824 got approved? How I-130 sent to NVC without I-824 being processed? Can you please provide an insight. Thanks in advance.

No my I-824 still says in progress, not approved.
I have no idea how my I-130 got sent without I-824 approval.
I have heard of this happening to others.
I have been on emma chat with live agents a lot. Yesterday the agent was extremely rude, unhelpful, and disconnected on me. I then called. If you say “info pass” the computer will connect you to live person. I spoke with her a while. I have many service requests that went unanswered and I expressed my concerns about that and the fact that Potomac processing times aren’t on website. She said she would send in another service request. I got 3 emails. One for the new service request and two for pending requests. Then today all the sudden I-130 was sent to NVC
Who knows what is going on with USCIS.

Great! Congratulations. This seems some miracle which is rare. I have contacted the Emma chat and to live agent on phone hundred times but they say same thing - write a letter to expedite. nothing they do.

Do you ask them to expedite the I-824 processing or say transfer I-130 to NVC? Becz they ask for applicant incase I provide them I-824 details and just hang up the phone. What specifically you say? TIA

I’ve tried expedite several times. Never worked.
so I had a problem for a while with agents disconnecting when I gave them applicant info. Turns out I was finally told after months that USCIS entered in applicant and beneficiary reversed into computer. So they wouldn’t talk to me. After they figured that out, they pulled up my paper application, they started talking to me. But it didnt help getting it through any faster.

So what exactly helped you. I think they are more kind of operators without much access to the files,

did you used Typographical error enquiry option? or filed I-129?

What triggered the approval?

I have no idea what triggered the approval. I didn’t use typographic error inquiry because I really didn’t know if it was true. No proof.  I had some say it was reversed and some not. I was afraid to do it cause it may make it take longer. No i didnt file anything else. I just kept asking for service requests. Maybe they just got sick of me idk. Or maybe I finally hit an agent that cared.

right we can only assume the agent was sympathetic (which is very rare). Anyways moral of the story is don't lose hope, keep trying again and again. Thank you.

Hi, I'm curious to see if all of you finally got your green cards? We also did a mistake saying that I'm already in the usa. Therefore we had to apply an I-824 on our aproved petition, that's been transfered to Pointiac service center.   This where in October 2023 and we haven't heard anything since then.
