I wonder what will happen to VJ if we continue to attrack members who think it is ok to behave in this manner

Then that would make you as bad as the people you are complaining about in the first place, surely?

Oh oh.... just tried to report a post that violates TOS and got no little box to explain why I was reporting.... wonder what is that about?????

Well, I've just clicked on the "report post button" and the box came up. *shrugs* Incidentally, if you see a TOS violation it helps to send a mod the link. We don't see any thing sent from the "report post" button.

It also helps sometimes to refresh the page, the box will come up then. :)

Please explain how if more people join VJ that are allowed to behave in an inappropriate way... that make me as bad as them....

The problem here is that it appears one member is being allowed to behave in this way and no amount of reporting that behavour seams to stop it....

I think she thought you meant "attack" rather than "attract".

Yes, I did.

After reading the most recent comments in this thread I have to say - you are essentially "feeding" this issue yourselves. let's move on. If you have something to work out with a member - PM them, contact a mod or Ewok.

and I repeat:

Dev - if you have issues with how the mods are "modding" then the proper recourse is to either PM and work it out with us, or to PM Ewok. We have rehashed this several times, I don't know what else to say on the matter.

I do have issues as do others(obvs this thread was created), yet no one has answered them, either in this thread or by PM. Not sure what else can be done?

Perhaps a suspension has been done, but her profile is still there so I highly doubt there is a (much deserved) ban.

The problem here is that it appears one member is being allowed to behave in this way and no amount of reporting that behavour seams to stop it....

And no, no medical condition should be used as an excuse to be rude.

Well, the person I know with Aspergers is rude, in the same way that Kez describes, i.e. brutally honest about things, which offends some people. However personal attacks are definitely not in the AS MO as I understand it.

exactly what I was getting at, Doc.

If someone is banned - be it for 24 hours or longer, their profile will remain visible. Disabled only happens when the account is closed down permanently by the Captain.

This just confirms that a normal member cannot tell what actions we take by looking at a profile.

It's my understanding a suspension is a temporary measure while a ban is permanent....

Isn't a suspension a temporary measure while a ban is permanent?

Actually, we mods refer to them as 24/48/72 hour bans. They can also be put into place for longer, it depends on what the member did.

very well but it we knew something then likely all this guessing about secret modding would stop!!???? Not to mention it would send a message to the unruly posters that it is not acceptable?

Geez, WHAT IS UP WITH THE SECRECY? It's VJ, not the Illuminati.

I know I'm going to get trounced for tossing this out there, but another board I used to help moderate had a section called the 'jail cell' where when we mods took action, we listed the user's name, the 'infraction' (normally we sited the section of TOS that was violated), the date of the 'infraction' and what action was taken. For example if it was a suspension, we'd list the date it started and ended.

We did it as lightheartedly as possible, and even would try and cut up with the person about 'getting out of jail' when they came back. I can't say whether or not it 'deterred' people from behaving badly, but it certainly didn't seem to cause any issues either.

So now everyone can cut that to shreds - privacy issues, 'don't read it if you don't like it', etc and so on. It wasn't my idea to do it at the other board so I don't care if you think its a stupid idea. :D
