I beg to differ if it's on her NBI criminal or civil it WILL affect the visa. I'm speaking what I know having gone though it and yes it was a civil case filed.

If your wife is living in USA, or you if she has her US Citizenship and you move back to Philippines. , you just have a contract drawn up in the USA, if in case of divorce house/land needs to be sold at xxxxxx amount of money, that solves the US Citizen can't own land roadblock.

She will not be restricted from leaving country if it makes it to her NBI if it's civil. Been there done that as well.  Mine was for internet service not paid.

Who said anything about a home or paying off a home? Home Credit is a financing company. They are for buying things on a payment plan such as a laptop.

You should be very concerned that she has so much debt with so many people/places. It indicates that she is very financially irresponsible and living beyond her means. Personal loans in the Philippines is more like loan sharks. The interest rates are horrible. Like around 10% interest per month. She is not unique as there are a lot of people in the Philippines that do this. However I would be very concerned about this.

The OP said home credit, I don't know what financial companies are which as I do not live or spent any great deal of time in the Philippines. OP said home credit anyone who does not know would assume buying a home. Nevertheless hopefully you understood the jest of what I was saying!

i  didn't say the USC would buy house

but u seem to be willing to accept fiancee and the debts without asking the person to limit it by selling and paying off things that could be eliminated 

 

u need to read some posts from members who feel overwhelmed by a foreigner who expects the USC to not only pay for them but to send money to the "new spouse's"  family as its not only cultural and expected but very often needed 

 

Be ready for debt and accept it or put a stop to things before all of this is out of your control

Can't enforce a US agreement between two US citizens in the Philippines.  In other words, the Philippines won't help you with enforcement of a foreign contract.

My wife still has the rest of a 30 year Pag-IBIG mortgage on her condo.  It doesn't make financial sense to sell it and the cost is no big deal for her to maintain on her US salary.  She pays it, not me.  That is not the slightest issue at all for US or the Philippines.  She also still maintains her Philippine Credit Cards though they aren't really used. 

 

However, with various other types of credit in the Philippines if someone doesn't pay they can get a case put on them for Estafa and that definitely could affect their immigration case.  Best for her to pay, and make sure you are talking about legitimate types of credit.  Their are also "creditors" in the Philippines that "make bad things happen if one doesn't pay or tries to skip out.

I know there's a requirement for income above the poverty line to qualify as the sponsor for my foreign fiance from the Philippines to join me in the USA, but I'm curious if there is also a minimum savings balance? My income is about $100,000, but my bank savings are only 4-digits at the moment due to some ongoing home renovations. Does it matter how much cash I have sitting in my checking account or do I only need the income and the funds to cover all the associated fees?

My new question has nothing to do with my original question. Why does it belong in the same thread? Is only one thread allowed per person? I doubt I'll even get a response to this new question here, because the title of this thread is completely unrelated.
