OP, just put down a date that seems likely, he'd know if they married in winter or summer for instance. This issue will never come up, and even if it did, you'd just be honest and say he can't remember the exact date. It's no big deal, it won't get you denied. Nowhere in this forum has anybody been denied for their US spouse bad memory of one previous wedding date - the important part is the divorce decree and you already have that one. You'll be fine.

Keep in mind that USCIS needs to know your marital status because your marital status is on the Certificate of Naturalization so it would be best to make an efforts to confirm your marital status by providing all the original copies of marriage and divorice documents as requested by USCIS to avoid delays in your n400 case.

OP is talking about the spouse's previous marriage, not their current marriage to each other.

OP, I am the USC spouse and I have no idea what date I got married to my first wife.  I remember it waa a week or two after graduating from college.

And I keep forgetting our anniversary.  I know the month and year, but I keep thinking the day of the month is the same as the day of the month for her birthday.  My wife has to constantly correct me.   I'm thankful that the day I think it is is 1 week earlier than the actual day, so I get her gifts early rather than late.

is it necessary to have that? I have his divorce decree, and that marriage was dissolve.. just wondering if the accurate previous marriage date is important..

It's not necessary to have it. Ones he has a divorce documemt..you can use it as prove of marriage termination. If it's the date he can mention a closer date even not exact as it is not important. The most important thing is to mentioned that he was marraid then divorced.
