After receiving NOA2(merged)

I've been searching the forums to find more current info on the process after NOA2 and I've been unable to find anything recent/clear.  What happens after I (petitioner) receive our NOA2?  I'm getting ready to leave the States for 2 months to visit my fiancé and anticipate our approval letter arriving somewhere during that timeframe (according to USCIS website processing times, we should have a response as soon as next week and as late as mid-December).  I want to make sure I leave behind any important, pre-prepared documents with my parents to mail on my behalf if there's anything that needs to be sent to the NVC once we get the NOA2.

In short, do we need to immediately submit any documents after NOA2, or are we just gathering important documents while we wait for our case to be transferred from NVC to the US embassy in my fiancé's home country?

Thank you so much in advance and apologies if this has already been addressed in a previous forum.

Judging from your post you are doing a K1 visa. After you receive NOA2, the petition will then be sent to NVC for processing. that's at least a month of you not being able to do anything. Then it will need to be transferred to the embassy and have an interview scheduled( Another Month or longer depending on embassy). Only thing you may be able to do in the next 2 months is get the case number and fill out the DS-160 for the interview. You will be home long before anything important is required. You could bring a copy of the I129F you filed so your fiancee can review it before the interview. Maybe whip a new intent to marry letter for the interview with a more recent date. and bring any original documents they may ask for at the interview. You can't really do the medical until interview is scheduled, make sure you round up any police clearance certificates you might need.

Loren,

Thank you for your helpful reply!  Yes, I'm applying for a K-1 visa.  Should I bring with me to Bolivia any original financial support documents like a signed letter from my boss that verifies my employment, a letter from my bank, and other original financial documents that will be required for my fiancé to bring to the interview?  It's my understanding that once our case is transferred to NVC, it may be up to 8 months before our case is transferred to the embassy and I know some documents don't have validity beyond 6 months.  I assume the same is true for police background checks on a local and international level.

I also read several places that as soon as we get the NOA2, we'll need to pay the visa fees immediately (I'm assuming that goes hand in hand with the DS-160).  Will there be an option to pay online, or should I leave a check with someone trusted to mail on my behalf?  Again, thank you so much for all the helpful advice!

Your approved petition will be sent to NVC immediately and when it is received you will be notified by NVC that they received your petition from USCIS that it will be entered in their system data. And will now be with them until the embassy at your beneficiary country of residence is ready for visa processing so that is when it will be sent to the embassy and I don’t think it will be up to 5 months because the validity of the approval is just four months but can be extended by the consular at the interview.
After you receive correspondent from NVC you will be given a case number then you can go online at ceac.state.gov to check your case status with your case number.

If it shows still at NVC then it has not been forwarded to the consulate, you can’t do nothing.

If it is INTRANSIT you can go ahead and pay your visa fees( your fiancé will pay that in his/her home country or the country where the visa interview will take place ) and create CGI account and start looking out for interview date coz dates gets filled up in no time and your case will change from INTRANSIT to READY in just couple of days then you can attend your interview by then.

I've been waiting for my welcome letter from the NVC, but have received confusing information each time I contact them.  At first, I was told we aren't in their system, but then I received this email today:

Dear Sir/Madam:

The invoice I.D. number for visa petition LPZ202352XXX is: 466XXXXX

The beneficiary I.D. number for XXXXXXX, XXXXXXXXX HUMBERTO is 47XXXXXX.

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

Has anyone else received information like this or know how I can proceed?  I'm wondering if any of these numbers are our case number.

Grateful for any guidance!!

It looks like you got your NVC case number so you can use it at

https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

You can track your case with the CEAC Stat Tracker

Thank you!  I never got my welcome letter.  Does anyone know if the letter is ever delayed?  Hoping to get the instructions so we can apply for the visa, submit documents, etc.

NVC only assigns a case number, then sends the case to the consulate after being requested.

Put your NVC Case number into

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

You should get something like "At NVC", "In Transit", or "Ready".

If the status is "Ready", then the case is received by the consulate, and you need to follow the consulate directions

https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Bolivia&cty=La Paz

https://bo.usembassy.gov/

The "welcome letter" is from the consulate in the form of Packet 3 or Packet 4 email/mail.

Thank you to all who responded.  I'm having trouble sorting through the timeline for the K-1 visa once I have a case number at NVC and who I should expect information from.  On the NVC website, it states: After creating your case, we will send you instructions for processing, as well as a Welcome Letter that includes your Case Number and Invoice ID. You will use these numbers to log into our Consular Electronic Application Center (https://ceac.state.gov).

I've heard conflicting responses on where and when this welcome letter should come.  My understanding is that the NVC should send me a Welcome letter once my case is created (I received my case number today).  Others have told me that I have to wait until my case is forwarded to the consulate.  My senator's assistant told me I need to wait 30 days after my case is created to receive a welcome letter.  When I log into the Consular Electronic Application Center, it just states that I need to fill out the DS-160 in order for the consular section to be able to process the case, but I haven't found information on the 6 steps required to complete before our case is sent to the embassy/consulate.

Does anyone have clear steps and an estimated timeline about how/when this should happen?  Again, so grateful for any help!

There is no welcome letter from NVC for K1 applicants.

If you want to find out your case number then you have to send them a message through public inquiry.

Otherwise, wait until the case is sent from NVC to the consulate, that is the only time NVC will send you information with your case number. Looks like you have done that already so no need to message them again. You have your NVC case #

cresting an account on CEAC was unnecessary. You will never use it

Your next steps are to wait for your case to be sent to the consulate. There is nothing else you can/need to do.
