Submit tax transcripts for the most recent year only. Household size is at the time of signing the form

Many people think there is a requirement to have been 100% or 125% of the poverty line for the past three tax years.  That is just not true.  The most important factor is the sponsor's CURRENT annual income.  The requirement for submission with an I-864 are:

1.  Submission of actual tax documentation for the most recent tax year (submission of the 2nd and 3rd most recent tax documentation is optional)

2.  Annotation (on the I-864) of tax figures from the 3 most recent tax returns

3.  Proof of CURRENT annual income.

4.  Accurate calculation of household size.

As previous posters indicated, one most recent tax return and current income are required. The previous 2 years is “ optional “ , not weighed ..BUT so many attorneys and DIYers keep up the myth that 3 years taxes are a must…
