My parents originally filed for my petition under F2B and my case was documentarily qualified last September 2021 and until now still waiting for interview letter.

In October 2022 my parents took their oath as naturalized citizens. I understand that this change on their status will also upgrade my case to the F1 category. But will the change be automatic? Or do they/I need to notify NVC for this change in their status? Or is there any other agency in-charge of this?

Based on current visa bulletins for my country, PD movement for F1 seems to be faster than F2B (which was not the case previously), considering this, I am wondering if changing to F1 will make it faster for me to get the interview letter?

Thank you for the answers in advance!

The change to F1 is automatic once NVC is notified, but you can apply to retain the F2B priority date if it is more advantageous for you. If it’s not worth retaining ir (are you Philippines?) then just notify NVC of the sponsoring parent”s citizenship - they won’t know about it otherwise - and leave it at that.

Thank you for the answer.

Yes, I am indeed from the Philippines. :)

Also, how do we notify NVC of this update? Do we use the public inquiry form or just upload a copy of the certificate of naturalization/passport to CEAC - if indeed this is the way, will this affect my DQ status?
