Does anyone know the process for transferring the visa to my new passport when I get it?

No such process.

You may use your visa from your old passport together with your new passport.

When you renew your passport, take care to inform your country's passport agency to not damage your U.S. visa. If they punch holes in it, you will have to apply for a new visa.

Thank you for replying.  I don't have high hopes for them to NOT punch a hole in the old one.   Best I can do is clip or staple a note to the cover of the old one but here in the Philippines they do what they want, not what you ask.

What happens if you wait for the old passport to expire?

My wife has 3 expired Philippines passports.  Each time, they only punched the cover and first bio page with picture.  The other pages and back cover were untouched.  The last one had her US B1/B2 visa in it.  It was never touched and she just brought it with the new passport.  No issues.

I can confirm from long experience that DFA punches holes only in the covers and bio pages. Not the pages with the visas. Been a standard practice for many years now. I used to handle PH passports on a daily basis for a previous job.

I need to renew the passport now since I cant travel with less than 6 months left on it.  It will take minimum 4-6 weeks here to apply for renewal.

You have a dilemma then.

I'm now on my 5th Philippine passport.  The DFA staff only punched holes on the bio page of my previous passports and also the back cover of my oldest passports (they don't do this anymore).  All the inside visa pages were untouched.
