In fairness, no one would have supported her move here in writing, as that would make them accomplices for anything that follows.

 

While waiting for the lawyer, do read up older threads on this forum. While unusual, your situation is not unique.

 

You might be able to reach out to people who had gone down a similar path and look into their world - years later.

You said your mother agreed to support and do just about anything to have a relationship with your  child. That you would make this part of the divorce agreement. Well guess what, your soon to be ex can prevent your mother from having any type of relationship with him. She can do just about anything and you will have to take her to court for everything and anything she feels like doing just to tick you off or get more out of you. 

 

You don't trust her now and you want to bring her here with lies that will bite you in the rear. If you think for one minute having US laws are going to favour you forget it. They will not, and she will have all the money in world to beat you in court with all the money your mother is going to hand over to keep her nice and comfy.

I echo the comments recently above, and some earlier, that, if you enable your soon-ex to be granted the visa, you will end up being soaked, used, and taken advantage of, beyond description.

 

Family law in the U.S. predominantly favors the mother in most states.  The mother typically is granted primary custody of the child, and support payments by the father are whatever the Family Court judge determines.  A lot -- a LOT -- of divorce attorneys lick their chops at the chance to soak the father/ex-husband-to-be.  For example, in Texas, the statutory minimum for child support is 20% of the father's salary.  That's the minimum, and it's until the child turns 18 years of age.  Even in an amicable divorce, the ex-husband can end up financially crippled.

 

If you're younger, you'll be severely hampered in building a new life and in saving for retirement.  If you're older, you might have to keep working unwillingly for many years longer.  Your desirability as a prospective partner will fade, when potential wives or even potential girlfriends learn that you're financially constricted and chained.  I've seen this happen to many friends, and they feel permanently hamstrung and defeated.

 

At the risk of belaboring the issue:  Do not (do NOT!) enable this woman to come to the U.S. -- not only for immigration legality as has been mentioned, but for your sake.
