Lack Tax Filings for CR1

Hello All

New to here and on general knowledge when it comes to spousal visas for America. Currently Im living with my wife (marriage less than 2 years) and we decided to make a move to the US. Some stats before I ask my question:
- havent filed any taxes since ive lived in Thailand for the past 9 years (half of those years were working online for a Chinese company making 10k a year, which is below minimum filing) One year I made 20k one year though the company from China doesnt report to IRS so its up to me to do so.

My question is, for the CR1, I believe it states that I must show last years tax filing. But if I cant show any filings, I need to have a letter of exempt stating that I didnt meet the minimum requirement.

My question is can my older brother act as a sponsor on my behalf and show his income, bank statements, tax filings to cover for me?

He stated that a few years ago he got his step daughter to bring her fiance in to America and she didnt have a job nor tax filings but that he sponsored her.

Will it hurt my wife's chances of getting a visa (and her stepson) if I cant show proof of any tax filings (which lacks the minimum income) despite my brother being able to cover for it? Sorry for the odd questions. New to this all and researching more by the day.

Simplest  is to file your 2019, 2020, and 2021 taxes.

Yes you will need a joint sponsor.

I believe that if you make the necessary amount, you need to file even if the other country doesn't  "report to IRS". In fact, I do not know of any country that does per se.

I do not know why any Country would, what business is it of theirs?

You must have filed, if required, for the 3 most recent tax years.  On the I-864, you must list numbers from those tax returns, or you must explain why you were not required to file for any of the 3 most recent tax years.  If you were required to file for the most recent tax year, you must submit a copy of that return or a tax transcript for the most recent tax year.  Your brother can serve as a joint sponsor if he lives in the US (and if he is qualified).  His document requirements are the same as the primary sponsor (you).  As @Mike E said, it might be easier to just file.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
