Can Student Loan be Used as a Source of Income

My fiance and I are planing to start our journey.  We haven't decided whether to go through K1 or CR1 yet.  The question I have now is that whether student load can be used as a source of income? 

I am a med student and get about 40K per year as expenses (after the school take their own tuition and fees) which is above the guideline of 125% poverty-line but not sure if I can use that as income.

A loan is not income.  
 

The liquid cash the loan provided is a valid asset though.
