July 2022 cases processing times and notifications

Hello !

So , I am a US citizen and my fiancé is from Brazil.

We filed our I129F in July of 2022.

We soon received our case number and receipt notice.

We had more optimist processing times in July, now I'm not seen anyone with they're case moving in less than a year but also I am having a hard time finding people that filed in 2022 .

Please if anyone is currently in the same timelines as us comment and help me understand what to expect!

Also, should I expect any other notification before the approval? Are we supposed to wait in silence until then?

Since there is no light at the end of the tunnel, what do we do if we want to get married sooner?!

Please help!

Any hints of what to do or tell me your story help me understand what to expect!

Below is the July 2022 filers group. Unfortunately, all you can do is wait. Try seeing each other while you wait. The only way to be together sooner to marry is if you move to Brazil or you move together to a third country which is not optimal for many but it is the fastest way to be together and marry. This is why I advocate for couples to file for the spousal visa instead as processing times are the same now and it offers many more benefits. You’re only 3 months in, I’d consider filing for CR1 instead but it’s up to you.

May I ask why you chose the K1 route? I get the impression not many are aware of its shortcomings. In addition to increasing waiting times, then there's the whole ordeal of AoS. Unless you two have very specific circumstances, it just feels like such a waste of time and money.

But to answer your questions: other than approval, you only get notifications for confirmation your petition was received, or for a RFE. The second one might or might not delay your process (it generally does), but if you submitted all the docs required, a RFE is unlikely.

I did the K1 pre pandemic and the wait to get the petition approved was very long 7 months. These days, with all the backlogs, it night be longer. K1 is not a priority category anyway. It's a subpar visa that confers no benefits to your future spouse when they get to the US. If money is not an issue, I would recommend getting married and applying for a spousal visa instead.

It's not just you - with the timeline being so far out for 2022 filers, there's general silence as people are waiting or just going about their lives. Seems like activity starts to pick up about 6 months prior to assumed approval timeframe.

So just keep reading 2021 filer stories and plan ahead. :)
