The stuff they call "Canadian" bacon here isn't Canadian bacon at all. No idea how they came up with that but they did. I've found the closest thing to Canadian bacon (aka peameal or back bacon) is called "smoked boneless pork"..... or "smoked pork chops" if you can't find the boneless. Though it's not quite the same as British bacon because it's smoked rather than cured.

If you can find a real butcher shop or have a Fresh Market or a Whole Foods market in your area you may be able to explain British bacon to the butcher. Pancetta may be about the closest you can find to British bacon if they cut it lean. Also, American grocery shops will attempt to find your product if you ask at customer service so you may want to give that a try, also.

Good luck!
